NZ First Maori Candidate For Ikaroa-Rawhiti Seat

An academic staff member at the Waikato Polytechnic was selected as the New Zealand First candidate for the Ikaroa Rawhiti electorate at a hui held at Waipatu Marae, Hastings.
His background is in education, business, exporting, the arts and he has also served in the armed forces. He has chaired various local and international adult education programmes. Wiremu Gudgeon was the director of Nukuhau International Ltd, Tourism Project, a manager for 5 years in the Trading Department of the Bay of Islands Dairy Corporation, manager with the Consolidated Exporters Ltd, and a Trustee of Rangimoana Productions.
Wiremu Mulligan Gudgeon from Ngati Porou currently tutors and assists not only young Maori to achieve their potential via the education system, but also older Maori who may have missed out on education their first time round.
He grew up in Tikitiki , completed his tertiary education in Hawaii, and is married with five children.
