Dunne Wecomes National Decision Not To Oppose Him

Published: Tue 31 Aug 1999 04:31 PM
Hon Peter Dunne, Leader of United New Zealand has welcomed the decision by the National Party not to stand an electorate candidate in Ohariu-Belmont.
“Under MMP the larger parties have to look to suitable coalition partners with similar outlooks to ensure stable and effective government.
“Today’s decision, should I retain my seat, also ensures that every List vote for United New Zealand will count towards gaining further seats in Parliament.
“I am fully committed to continuing to do my best for all the residents of Ohariu- Belmont and look forward to the opportunity to do so for the next three years.”
