ACT Will Cancel Henare's Deal
ACT has severely criticised Mauri Pacific for demanding $15 million spending on Maori initiatives in return for supporting National's tax cut legislation.
ACT Leader Richard Prebble said his party would not support the proposal to spend $15 million of taxpayers' money producing a compact disc and some videos in order to get Mr Henare's vote.
"This is the sort of spending that resulted in Aotearoa TV. I predict the money will end up buying $89 underwear and other extravagances for so-called consultants who've been sponging off Maori and the taxpayer.
"The spending package has everything to do with Tau Henare's election campaign and nothing to do with tackling the real problems facing Maori and the country," Mr Prebble said.
