The future of the Commerce (Controlled Goods and Services) Bill is yet to be decided, Enterprise and Commerce Minister
Max Bradford said today.
NZ First today opted not to support the Bill after negotiations with Mr Bradford over the last couple of weeks.
"A decision has not been made over whether the Government will take the Bill back to the House after the three week
recess or not," Mr Bradford said.
"Over the next week I will discuss the matter with my colleagues, after which a decision will be made.
"By not supporting this legislation the parties on the left and the extreme right have made their position clear, they
favour monopolies.
"This stance is very different to the position held by Mauri Pacific, some Independent MPs and the National Party who
are all on the side of consumers.
"Today, Mr Peters again showed he could not be relied on to act in the best interests of New Zealanders," Mr Bradford
said.
