The Maori Economic Rebirth

Published: Thu 29 Jul 1999 01:13 PM
Maori Affairs Minister, Hon Tau Henare, today released a booklet that provided a snapshot of the economic position of Maori.
Maori in the New Zealand Economy paints a broad-ranging picture of the Maori position he said.
"We see the figures on Maori land use, sketches of the big Maori incorporation's, our innovative new industries, social policy issues, the arts... everything.
"This book shows clearly how far we've come, and places beyond doubt the power and potential of Maori in the economy," said Mr Henare.
"There can be no doubt there has been a Maori economic rebirth. What we need to see are goals and a vision."
