The Te Tai Rawhiti MP, Tuariki Delamere, says he's honoured and delighted to have been elected chairman of the Whakatohea Maori Trust Board at the weekend.
Acknowledging that the Board has had difficult relations with some of its 8000 registered beneficiaries over recent years, Mr Delamere said his first task as chairman was to work with all members of the iwi so that confidence in the Board could be restored.
"It is my fervent desire that, with goodwill on all sides, the hopes and aspirations of our people can be fully realised," he said.
