29 June 1999

United New Zealand leader, Hon Peter Dunne, today unveiled the team of spokespeople the party will be taking into the General Election.

"Our team of spokespeople reflect the diversity of backgrounds and experience among our candidates and membership," says Mr Dunne.

The list of spokespeople is:

Finance - Hon Peter Dunne, United NZ leader and MP for Ohariu-Belmont, Wellington

Health -Ravi Vohora, Dunedin (Pharmacist)

Education- Graeme Butterworth, Wellington, (Professional historian and researcher)

Commerce, Industry and Enterprise - Frank Owen, Lower Hutt (Company Director)

Home Affairs (including Internal Affairs, arts and culture, drug prevention) - Pauline Gardiner, Bay of Plenty, (former MP)

Housing - Ram Prakash, Auckland (Real Estate industry)

Primary Industries - Jim Howard, Fielding (Farmer)

Immigration and Ethnic Affairs - Dr Aditya Prakash, Auckland (Medical Practitioner)

"In presenting this line-up of spokespeople United New Zealand will be positively promoting our progressive policies. Our common-sense yet innovative policies will show clearly that our party is in favour of economic progress, but with a social heart.

"The team of spokespeople and candidates will show New Zealanders that there is a wider choice than the old parties of the left and right. We will demonstrate that casting a list vote for United New Zealand is the way to ensure stable, sensible government if either Labour or National is the party of government after the Election.

With all our policies released United NZ is well placed to make the positive difference we seek," says Mr Dunne.
