New Zealand First welcomes plans to regulate vaping and smokeless alternatives.
“Today’s announcement will give smokers improved confidence in the quality of vaping and smokeless tobacco products” says Jenny Marcroft, New Zealand First spokesperson for Health.
“Vaping and smokeless tobacco products are important support tools to help quit smoking tobacco.
“New Zealand First believes that increasing the price of tobacco disproportionally impacts those in lower socio-economic groups.
“While vaping contains less harmful chemicals than cigarettes the preferred option is no smoking at all.
“We need to focus more on smoking minimisation options in order to meet our smoke-free 2025 target.
”We must give New Zealanders the right tools and support to make the best choices for their health,” says Ms Marcroft.
