(Integrity) Amendment Bill
New Zealand First Leader, Rt Hon Winston Peters, says the passing of the Electoral (Integrity) Amendment bill this afternoon is a milestone event for parliamentary democracy.
“The Act ensures the full expression of MMP and secures the important principle of proportionality,” says Mr Peters.
“Voters, and only voters, should decide the proportionality of parliament. That important principle is now passed into law.”
“The passing of the Act is also represents another item delivered as part of the New Zealand First and Labour Party Coalition Agreement.”
New Zealand First thanks the Minister of Justice, Hon Andrew Little, for his effective stewardship of the Electoral (Integrity) Amendment bill,” he says.
