Parliament TV will be airing a new programme to share how Parliament works, and to encourage people to get involved.
The hour long “Introducing Parliament” documentary offers an easy and fun way to find out how Parliament works,
including:
• what happens at Parliament,
• the people of Parliament and the roles they play,
• how laws are made,
• what select committees do, and importantly,
• the different ways people can have their say.
You can watch the programme on Parliament TV from 12:40pm to 1:40pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays on the days
Parliament is in session. It will also show after the 10:00pmrepeat of Question Time.
Parliament TV provides live broadcasts from the House of Representatives in Parliament, and information about the
business of select committees when the House isn’t sitting.
Clerk of the House of Representatives, David Wilson, says “Introducing Parliament” will help connect more people with
Parliament.
“This programme opens Parliament up to everybody and shows at bit of everything, from making laws to fun stuff like open
days and flag flying. We think it will be a useful tool for schools too. It’s an approachable way to learn about
Parliament, democracy, and how to participate – regardless of age.”
