End of Life Choice Bill heads to Christchurch

End of Life Choice Bill heads to Christchurch

ACT leader David Seymour will be in Christchurch to hear the views of New Zealanders on assisted dying and is encouraging them to contact local MPs with their support.

“We’ve sent out 20,000 letters which have arrived in Christchurch letterboxes this week regarding my End of Life Choice Bill,” says David Seymour.

“This Bill is about providing people with choice and compassion. It’s important that on a conscience vote like assisted dying that MPs represent their voters, who tend to be more supportive of assisted dying than them, and don’t keep people in the dark.

“That’s why I’ve invited 20,000 homes to share their views, hear about the Bill and its progress and ask any questions they may have. I’ve also asked them to write to their local MP and tell them they support the Bill.

“It’s a matter of months, if not weeks, before the first reading in parliament.

“People should be given the opportunity to access correct information about my Bill and its safeguards, which is why we’ve asked for donations so we can write to another 20,000 homes and spread the message.

“Voters up and down the country will soon be putting pen to paper and asking whether their local MP will vote their values.”
