Submissions Are Open on the Social Workers Registration Legislation Bill
The Social Services and Community Committee is seeking submissions on the Social Workers Registration Legislation Bill.
The bill aims to amend the Social Workers Registration Act 2003 to:
• apply the voluntary registration system to all workers
• protect the use of the title “social worker”
• ensure that social workers are competent and fit to practise
• provide an appropriate complaints and disciplinary process.
The bill also seeks to amend existing provisions to improve the effectiveness and transparency of the Act.
