The House resumes today for a session planning to run until December 21.
The Government has said it intends to complete the Address in Reply debate today with two hours and 32 minutes remaining.
This will be followed by the committee stage of the Healthy Homes Guarantee Bill (No 2) and the first reading of the Statutes Amendment Bill (No 2).
Wednesday will be the first members’ day and first general debate of the new Parliament.
The only local bill on the Order paper – the New Plymouth District Council (Waitara Lands) Bill - has been postponed until further notice under Standing Order 74(1)(b), so the first bill to be debated will the interrupted third reading of the Films, Videos, and Publications Classification (Interim Restriction Orders) Amendment Bill in the name of Chris Bishop.
This will be followed by the third reading of the Private International Law (Choice of Law in Tort) Bill, interrupted second reading of the Rates Rebate (Retirement Village Residents) Amendment Bill and the second reading of the Employment Relations (Allowing Higher Earners to Contract Out of Personal Grievance Provisions) Amendment Bill.
It is unlikely a ballot will be triggered.
The Government
has indicated it wants to complete the third reading of the
Parental Leave and Employment Protection Amendment Bill on
Thursday.
