Māori Party pays tribute to Peter Dunne

Māori Party co-leaders Te Ururoa Flavell and Marama Fox have today paid tribute to United Future and Ōhariu MP Peter Dunne who has chosen to retire from politics.

“As an MP who has represented his electorate for 33 years, Peter is someone who has made a valuable contribution to both his community and to politics,” says Mr Flavell.

“I have enjoyed sitting next to him in the House of Representatives and to share in his knowledge about a whole range of issues that affect our country. It is also sad that someone who has spent so much time in the House will not get the chance to make a valedictory speech.”

“He voted against the Foreshore and Seabed Act and worked hard in the subsequent years to find a resolution to the issue,” says Ms Fox.

“He has dedicated most of his adult life to working to make a difference for the people of New Zealand and those in his electorate and we both wish him well.”
