UnitedFuture Leader Endorses Pledge of the White Ribbon Campaign - Dunne
UnitedFuture leader, Hon Peter Dunne, has today committed to the White Ribbon campaign, signing the campaign pledge to stand up,
speak out and act to prevent men's violence towards women.
"I want to congratulate the White Ribbon Campaign for being stanch advocates for a campaign against violence and the
cause of fostering respectful relationships in our society," said Mr Dunne.
"The White Ribbon campaign plays a pivotal role in our ability as citizens and residents in New Zealand to take a stands
and send a message easily and collectively.
"This is a campaign that serves an important role in New Zealand where we, even in 2016, see too many victims of
violence emerge from within relationships that should be founded on respect of a common humanity and the love shared for
one another.
"The principles underpinning the cause are shared by UnitedFuture, we want to see a community that is founded on respect
for each other as individuals, bound together by a common set of values regardless of gender, sex, orientation or any
other attribute.
"We want to see relationships that can foster that respect and understanding and, therefore, flourish.
"It is for that reason I am proud to stand up, speak out against violence towards women and act in whatever way I can to
prevent violence from occurring.
"I stand with countless others, united in this White Ribbon pledge and urge every New Zealander to join and engage with
this important campaign," Mr Dunne concluded.
White Ribbon Day occurs this Friday the 25th of November.
