Have your say on the Electoral Amendment Bill
Public submissions are now open on the Electoral Amendment Bill, which is being considered by Parliament’s Justice and
Electoral Committee.
The aim of the bill is to make a number of minor changes to the Electoral Act 1993 that clarify the law around elections
and help improve services to voters.
Key features of the bill include: allowing electoral officials at the polling places to use the electronic roll to check
voters’ enrolment status, permitting the Electoral Commission to provide information to voters via email in addition to
post, and allowing the Commission to start counting advance votes earlier on election day.
Tell the Justice and Electoral Committee what you think.
Send your submission on the bill by midnight on Thursday 27 October 2016.
