National Warring over Flag
War has broken out in the National government over the flag referendum, says New Zealand First.
New Zealand First Leader and Member of Parliament for Northland Rt Hon Winston Peters said he understood the caucus was split with the Prime Minister barely having the support of a majority to change the national flag.
“The war is wasting even more of taxpayers’ money as the National MPs pro the flag change desperately congregate in secret meetings to plan even more propaganda to promote their cause.
“Whatever taxpayer waste they engage in they can’t get past the fact that the pro-change campaign is based on a fundamental lie, that is, that the alternative flag is a silver fern when it clearly is no such thing, being black, white and blue.
“To call it the silver fern option shows members of that committee are colour blind and they should not be allowed to do their own shopping.
“As more New Zealanders understand the difference between the propaganda and the truth, the more this bare majority of National MPs’ campaign will be doomed - as New Zealand First alone of political parties pointed out from the outset.
“A succession of polls has shown that the majority of New Zealanders will vote against a change,” says Mr Peters.
