Labour at Paris climate talks
Labour’s Climate Change spokesperson Megan Woods is travelling to Paris as part of the New Zealand delegation to the COP21 talks.
“The world is aiming for a climate change
agreement that is binding. Labour has already said we must
have ambitious targets on lowering carbon dioxide emissions
from energy use, including transport.
“We should at least be comparable to the EU with its overall target of a 40 per cent reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030.
“This is a great opportunity to be able to have a cross party presence at the table in Paris. The big question for New Zealand will be how we enforce the decisions taken at the conference when we get home,” says Megan Woods.
