Minister announces investigation
Māori Development Māori Te Ururoa Flavell announced today that he will direct a ministerial investigation into the affairs of Aupōuri Māori Trust Board, under section 33 of the Māori Trust Boards Act 1955.
“Aupōuri Māori Trust Board has advised that the Board has some financial problems. At the request of the Aupōuri Māori Trust Board and in my capacity as the Māori Development Minister, this investigation will ascertain the facts and circumstances that have resulted in the Board’s current financial situation. I have also asked Te Puni Kōkiri officials to assist the Board with its request for an interim manager. I am committed to having this investigation undertaken in a timely and efficient manner,” says Mr Flavell.
