Public to have their say on extended drinking hours
Public to have their say on extended drinking hours for Rugby World Cup
A new bill extending the operating hours for bars during the Rugby World Cup passed its first stage in Parliament yesterday.
Parliament’s Justice and Electoral Committee is inviting the public to have their say on the Sale and Supply of Alcohol (Extended licensing hours during Rugby World Cup) Bill. The closing date for submissions is noon on Thursday, 20 August 2015.
This bill extends licensing hours during the 2015 Rugby World Cup, so premises covered by the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 can be open during matches. The committee’s findings, which will be informed by public opinion, will be reported back to Parliament by Wednesday, 26 August 2015.
The public can have their say by making a submission to the committee at www.parliament.nz.
