Bumper Christmas/New Year for the Coromandel

Lower petrol prices, a stronger economy and great weather are being attributed to a bumper Christmas, New Year period for the Coromandel.

MP for Coromandel, Scott Simpson, says visitor numbers are up and cheaper petrol will have been a factor for many when making a decision on where to holiday.

“Not having huge traffic delays on the Kopu Bridge has been a big help to the region.

“There are noticeably more families visiting the Coromandel this year.

“Businesses are reporting excellent trading and that reflects the confidence people have in the economy going into 2015.

“Topping it all off, the weather has been great and visitors are experiencing a classic kiwi summer in New Zealand’s most popular holiday destination.

Mr Simpson says there is no doubt people are feeling more confident going into 2015 than they were twelve months ago.

“There is still plenty of summer to be had and a warm welcome awaits holidaymakers still planning a visit to the beautiful Coromandel.
