Actions Speak Louder than Words
Ministers Adams and Tolley need to break the cycle of endlessly acknowledging reports and recommendations surrounding family violence and take some action, says New Zealand First.
“‘The People’s Blue-Print’ out today gives clear recommendations for action on the family violence epidemic,” says Tracey Martin, Deputy Leader and Spokesperson for Women.
“The uniqueness and strength of the report is that it includes the voices of both New Zealand women and men who have experienced violence and the inadequacies of the service response as it exists.
“This report follows many others all giving recommendations to fix a response system that is failing.
“Recent tragic events have highlighted how important it is to get it right at all levels.
“National has done little on family violence since coming in to power in 2008.
“Actions always speak louder than words.
“The Government needs to bring in the service users, listen to them and take real action,” says Ms Martin.
