Let’s Do the Feed Before the Weed
MANA Leader and Member of Parliament for Te Tai Tokerau Hone Harawira
Monday 8th September
“Last week I put out a very strongly worded email to my colleagues about an on-line promotion about cannabis law reform” said MANA leader and Tai Tokerau MP, Hone Harawira “and I stand by that criticism today”
“My concern was that time, and design effort had obviously gone into the cannabis law reform promotion, while I hadn’t seen the same level of promotion for one of Internet MANA’s main campaign themes, Feed the Kids”.
"I’m very pleased that Internet Party leader Laila Harre independently came to the same conclusion as me and also asked for the campaign not to proceed."
Harawira said his Feed the Kids bill was a comprehensive, government-funded breakfast and lunch programme in all decile 1-4 schools. “It’s live in parliament right now, it is supported by a number of parties already, and it could be passed in the first sitting of the new parliament”
“I am glad that my colleagues are now working on a strong and positive on-line campaign to support our Feed the Kids bill and I look forward to seeing that online after the launch of our Eliminating Poverty campaign tomorrow.”
