Labour Recreation Policy is Utter Hypocrisy Says Dunne
UnitedFuture Leader Hon Peter Dunne and Outdoors spokesperson Alan Simmons thoroughly reject the Labour Party’s
assertion they will promote outdoor recreation.
“The biggest step forward for outdoor recreation in in the last ten years in New Zealand is the creation of the Game
Animal Council. Labour opposed its formation.
“For Labour to suggest they will ‘promote outdoor recreation’ when their track record clearly shows the complete
opposite is utter hypocrisy and shows how deluded they and their Green party colleagues are” said Mr Dunne.
UnitedFuture created the Game Animal Council under the current Confidence and Supply Agreement with National.
The Council represents the ‘interests of the recreational hunting sector and improves the management of hunting
resources while contributing to positive conservation outcomes’.[1]
“UnitedFuture is the only party that has consistently advocated and put its neck out for the outdoors and outdoor
recreation.
“Hunters, anglers, fishers, and everyone who enjoys our beautiful outdoors has a lot to thank UnitedFuture for” said
Alan Simmons, UnitedFuture Outdoors spokesperson.
“The reality is that UnitedFuture wants people to enjoy our magnificent outdoors and clearly Labour has embraced the
Greens desire to lock it up and view it from afar” said Mr Dunne.
