What Value is a Life Worth?
“I am appalled by the decision to grant a discharge without conviction for the individuals who through the result of their violent actions led to the death of Stephen Dudley” says UnitedFuture candidate for Kelston, Jason Woolston.
“A young man's life is worth less than a minor conviction on a person’s criminal record?
“In Waitakere we have had 7 homicides this year directly attributable to violence.
“Decisions such as that handed down yesterday just continue to reinforce the message that violence on our streets and in our homes is ok. This does nothing to discourage the rising tide of violence in the Waitakere community.
“I do not believe it is acceptable to grant a discharge without conviction where a life, a son, and a future have been stolen by thoughtless, violent actions and would urge the Crown Law Office to review and appeal this decision” Mr Woolston said.
