Dunne Welcomes Wellington Housing Relief
Ohariu MP and Leader of UnitedFuture Hon Peter Dunne welcomed today’s joint announcement between the Government and Wellington City Council to open up more areas for housing in the Wellington region.
“We are constantly hearing about the housing pressures in Auckland and Christchurch but Wellington’s housing market is also significantly overheated” said Mr Dunne.
Subject to formal approval from the Council, the Wellington Housing Accord sets target 7000 additional homes over the next five years.
“I am so pleased that the Government has recognised that Wellington has specific challenges in the provision of housing.
“I am very optimistic that the proposed, new housing areas in Churton Park and Johnsonville will be approved and offer relief to these rapidly growing areas” he said.
