Judith Collins has to fess up on ACC blunder
ACC Minster Judith Collins must front up and tell New Zealand how many people who refused to hand over their private details to ACC have been denied cover, says Labour’s ACC Spokesperson Iain Lees-Galloway
“The legality of ACC’s privacy waver, ACC 167, has been called into question today as has the requirement that claimants complete the form in order to receive cover.
“Anyone who refused to fill in the form on the grounds that it gave ACC excessive powers to collect their private information could have been denied treatment and compensation.
“This is just another example of ACC under National deliberately acting to deny treatment and compensation to people who pay their levies and have a right to be covered.
“Those who did fill in the form have effectively been victims of yet another ACC privacy breach. This time Judith Collins knew it was happening, was warned it was a problem but failed to take necessary action.
“New Zealand has a right to know how many people have been denied cover, how many people have had excessive information gathered about them and what Judith Collins plans to do to fix the latest ACC disaster on her watch,” says Iain Lees-Galloway.
