Congratulations Emeritus Professor Albert Wendt - Order of NZ
New Zealand First has congratulated Emeritus Professor Albert Wendt who will tomorrow receive the highest honour for service to New Zealand, the Order of New Zealand, in Auckland.
In 2001, Professor Wendt was made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his contribution to literature.
Spokesperson for Pacific Island Affairs Asenati Lole-Taylor said that Professor Wendt has made invaluable contributions to literature and has devoted much of his life and work to New Zealand and the Pacific – teaching not only in New Zealand, but also in Samoa, Fiji and Hawaii.
“I want to acknowledge Professor Wendt’s hard work, determination, and commitment to literature and the milestones he has achieved along the way.
“Receiving the Order of New Zealand is a huge accomplishment, and Professor Wendt deserves to be recognised for his achievements, which are a testament to the impact he has made in New Zealand and the Pacific,” says Mrs Lole-Taylor.
