Waste Advisory Board appointments announced
Environment Minister Amy Adams has today announced three new appointments and two reappointments to the Waste Advisory
The Waste Advisory Board provides independent advice to the Minister for the Environment on matters relating to the
Waste Minimisation Act 2008 and waste minimisation.
“I am pleased to appoint Cynthia Bowers, Tina Porou and Dr Trevor Stuthridge to the Waste Advisory Board.
“Ms Bowers is Deputy Mayor of Hastings District Council. She has 17 years’ experience in local government, chairs the
Hastings District Council/Napier City Council Joint Solid Waste Management Committee and is also a self-employed
“Ms Porou is the Ohaaki Consenting Manager for Contact Energy. She has extensive experience in resource management,
working in a range of environmental roles over the last 15 years, with a focus on tangata whenua engagement.
“Dr Stuthridge is the Sustainable Design General Manager at the Crown Research Institute Scion. He has extensive
national and international experience in innovative waste management and minimisation technologies.”
In addition to the new appointments, Ms Adams has also reappointed Board Chair Rob Fenwick, and board member David
“With these appointments, the Board will have the combined knowledge, skill and experience to provide me with sound
advice on matters relating to waste minimisation as specified in the Waste Minimisation Act.”
