Son of Te Arawa Backs Up In Cincinnati
MP for Waiariki and Co-Leader of the Maori Party Te Ururoa Flavell congratulates Kingi Biddle on his second placing at the World Champion Public Speaking competition in Cincinnati over the weekend, for once again making a top placing amongst the world’s top speakers.
"We are so proud of Kingi in not only reaching world standard, but also improving on last year’s placing. This is phenomenal, for a young man from Koutu Rotorua to be named second in the world " says Flavell. "It’s really special that his wife, Wendy was able to travel with Kingi to support him in person this year after doing a lot of fundraising. I am sure that Kingi felt the presence of his father Bully, and his hapu and iwi on the stage with him”.
"The art of speechmaking is certainly not for everybody, but Kingi proves that actually, anybody who really has a desire to excel in this field, can do so" says Flavell.
Kingi was selected to represent New Zealand at the World Champion Public Speaking Competition when he won the New Zealand International Prepared Speech award at the national Toastmasters' competition in June for the second year in a row.
Kingi descends from Ngāti Whakaue, Te Arawa, and is a member of the Te Arawa Standing Committee, a Trustee of the Te Arawa Lakes Trust, and a popular local personality.
