Te Hamua Nikora gets a big smile from MANA in Ikaroa Rawhiti
MANA Leader and MP for Te Tai Tokerau Hone Harawira

“Te Hamua’s got a huge profile and he’s got a great sense of humour - which you gotta have in this business” said MANA Leader and MP for Te Tai Tokerau Hone Harawira with a smile when asked about Te Hamua Nikora being confirmed as MANA’s candidate in the upcoming Ikaroa Rawhiti by-election.
“And he’s got so many Facebook friends that he’s had to open two new FB pages so he’s connected to the world in ways that most politicians would kill for”.  Harawira said that Facebook pages are limited to 5,000 friends and that Te Hamua had to open a second and third page and was about to open a fourth page as he pushed through the 15,000 friends limit. “Bugger’s more popular than me!”
“Parekura was very well known and well liked in his electorate, and so too is Te Hamua” said Harawira “and you won’t find another politician anywhere in the country with the connection that Te Hamua has to rangatahi”.
“He built his profile in Maori Television on Pukana, Tumeke and Homai Te Pakipaki. He’s a rap singer, a musician, a DJ, he’s an MC, and over the past few months he’s established himself as a highly sought after motivational speaker in schools right around the country”.
Harawira said that Nikora also fit the MANA profile too “People who fit the image of a normal politician don’t fit into MANA.  Parekura was an outside the box kind of guy. So am I. And so is Te Hamua”.
“If there’s one thing Maori tell me from all round the country it’s that they want people who aren’t afraid to lead and are prepared to speak their mind. Te Hamua fits that description perfectly”.
“I think he’s gonna be great out on the road and I think he’s gonna be even better when he gets in the house”.
