10 April 2013
National has had a strong economic plan since we first came into office in 2008. We've faced some big challenges and very difficult economic circumstances
along the way. But we've shown we can carefully balance the need to run the Government's books, while protecting New
Zealand's most vulnerable.
We're seeing some great results. We achieved 3% economic growth in New Zealand last year, which is higher than most developed countries, and business confidence is increasing. Over the weekend, I met
Christine Lagarde from the International Monetary Fund while in China, who said she believes our economic plan is "very
stable and it's also very promising".
Watch my latest video, where I talk about our economic programme ahead of next month's budget.
Best wishes
John Key
Prime Minister
