Flavell urges constituents to make submissions on Surveillance Bill
Maori Party MP for Waiariki, Te Ururoa Flavell, is encouraging the public (especially his constituents), to make urgent
submissions to the Justice and Electoral Committee against the proposed Video Camera Surveillance (Temporary Measures)
Bill set to be pushed through Parliament this week.
“I understand that the Bill will be referred to the Select Committee this afternoon, and considering the urgency of the
Bill, it is imperative that submissions are made within the next 24 hours or risk having no say in the matter.” Says Te
Ururoa.
“The Māori Party does not support this Bill and we are calling on all of the people who have contacted our offices,
outraged at the proposed legislation, to help us put a stop to it by making a submission” ends Mr Flavell.
The Video Camera Surveillance (Temporary Measures) Bill should be listed on the following link later on today. Mr
Flavell would like anyone having trouble accessing the link to contact his office for assistance.
