ACT Party Candidate for Hunua Announced
ACT New Zealand is delighted to announce the selection of local resident and Wiri Oil Services General Manager Ian Cummings as the Party’s candidate to campaign for the party vote in the key electorate of Hunua.
Mr Cummings said he identifies strongly with ACT’s core principles of freedom, choice and personal responsibility and is looking forward to the campaign.
"I’m absolutely delighted to be given the opportunity to represent the ACT Party in my home electorate – I’m looking forward to meeting voters and sharing how ACT policies will raise incomes, give power to parents, ensure welfare works, promote equality under the law, and make our communities safer.
“Our country is facing some very tough times and I have serious concerns about the Government’s direction.
“The Government is borrowing about $300 million a week to service its spending. This is a staggering amount. I firmly believe it is irresponsible to live on credit, at the expense of future generations.
“Without ACT in government to give National some spine, things would be even worse.
“National must not be given an opportunity to govern alone – they need to be held to account. A strong ACT Party presence in the next Government is vital for New Zealand’s future,” Mr Cummings concluded.
