When Parliament resumed at 2pm, the acting Leader of the House Chris Finlayson said next week it was the Government’s
intention to complete the Estimates Debate and then make progress on the Electoral Administration Amendment Bill.
Finlayson said the Leader of the House was open to discussions about whether Parliament would immediately deal with the
third reading of the Appropriations Bill and whether Urgency would be used in coming weeks.
The petition of Sue Kedgley was presented requesting that the House of Representatives note that 6,597 people have
signed a petition calling for the development of a healthy bees strategy to protect and improve the health of honey and
wild bees; the undertaking of annual surveys of bee populations to assess whether our bee populations are declining;
stop the use of pesticides that are implicated in bee deaths, until an ERMA reassessment finds that they do not pose a
risk to bee health; and prohibit the import of honey and other bee products that could introduce further bee diseases
into New Zealand.
The Special report providing the response from the Health and Disability Commissioner to the 2009/10 financial review of the
Health and Disability Commissioner by the Health Committee was presented.
