National Selects Sam Collins as Wigram Candidate
National Party Wigram Electorate Chair Bob Shearing is pleased to announce that Sam Collins will be the Party’s Wigram candidate for the upcoming General Election.
“The National Party values the support we receive from Wigram and we are delighted to have Sam as our candidate to contest the November 26 election.
Collins says he is honoured by the selection and looking forward to the opportunity of fighting for the privilege of representing the people of Wigram in John Key’s Government.
“The impact of this year’s devastating earthquake highlights the need for a strong stable National-led Government that will steer us through the recovery and create jobs without leaving a mountain of debt for future generations.
“I applaud the work of the Government in steering us through the disaster that has hit Canterbury amidst a global recession. John Key’s reliable and proven leadership is critically important for our country’s future and I will be doing my utmost to insure it continues.
Collins was raised and educated in Christchurch, and graduated from Canterbury University in 2007. He has recently returned to New Zealand after two years abroad where he worked in the not-for-profit sector in the area of healthcare research.
Collins returned to New Zealand after the February 22 earthquake to assist his family and community with the crisis. He has vowed to move into the electorate if successful on November 26.
