Restoration of Khandallah Town Hall the perfect Christmas present
Ohariu MP and Khandallah resident Peter Dunne has expressed his delight at the announcement today that the Khandallah Town Hall is to be restored to its former glory.
“The announcement by the Wellington City Council of over $1 million for the upgrade of the town hall is the perfect Christmas present for Khandallah residents,” said Mr Dunne.
“Town halls have long been seen as the physical heart of New Zealand’s communities, it is no different in Khandallah.”
“Generations of Khandallah families have enjoyed using the hall for anything from playgroups and fairs to community meetings. The restoration means that future generations can utilise the hall to an even greater extent.”
“I have kept in close contact with the Khandallah Community Forum and the Cornerstone Community Trust as this project has been developed, and, as a local resident am thrilled at the Council's decision.”
“The functional multi-use nature of the future lay-out will provide the Khandallah community with a more user-friendly facility, and while this modernisation is much-needed personally I am thrilled that the exterior will be restored to its original design.”
“I look forward to working with my local community to make the most out of what will be a wonderful facility,” said Mr Dunne.
