Pacific Island Organisations Receive Community Response Fund Grant
Maungakiekie MP Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga is delighted that Pacific Island groups in Auckland have been granted over $350,000 dollars through the Community Response Fund.
“This funding will help these organisations continue to provide services to the community during these difficult financial times,” says Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga.
“I congratulate these organisations for their on-going delivery of critical community based social services, including helping people deal with family violence, child abuse and neglect, budget and financial advice, and early intervention for vulnerable and at-risk people.
“Organisations need to be able to adapt to the changing needs of their communities. National knows they are feeling the squeeze, and I am proud to be part of a Government that supports them and the valuable work they do.”
Community groups around New Zealand will receive more than $8 million from the recent Community Response Fund round. National has helped our communities with $33.6 million of grants to make sure we keep these services.
The National Government set up the Community Response Fund to respond to the increased demand for services, in recognition that fewer donations were received in 2009.
“People at the grass roots know what’s best for their communities. It is great that the Government is helping them meet the needs of Kiwis and their families.”
