Loss of New Zealand soldier
Loss of New Zealand soldier
Today with enormous sadness we learned of New Zealand’s first combat loss in Afghanistan, with the tragic death a New Zealand soldier who was serving with the Provincial Reconstruction Team in Bamyan, Labour Leader Phil Goff said.
“Our thoughts and sympathy are with the family of the soldier who was killed and on behalf of the Labour Party I offer them our sincere condolences,” Phil Goff said.
“It is a sad reminder that those who serve our country overseas in the New Zealand Defence Force put their lives at risk.
“Our sympathy also goes out to the soldiers and their interpreter who were wounded in yesterday’s incident and their families.
“I know that there will be deep sadness right across the New Zealand Defence Force at the loss of one of their own, and that the NZDF will also give every support they can to the families of those who have been affected,” Phil Goff said.
