Climate Change Response (Moderated Emissions Trading) Amendment Bill

The Chairperson of the Finance and Expenditure Committee is inviting public submissions on the Climate Change Response (Moderated Emissions Trading) Amendment Bill. The closing date for submissions is Tuesday, 13 October 2009.

This Bill amends the Climate Change Response Act 2002. It modifies the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme, provides further powers to make regulations and administer the principal Act, and makes technical drafting changes to add clarity to the principal Act. The committee will have access to all publicly available Parliamentary information regarding Climate Change Response and the Emissions Trading Scheme, including submissions given to the Emissions Trading Review Committee, and to the Finance and Expenditure Committee when it considered the Climate Change (Emissions Trading and Renewable Preference) Bill in the last Parliament.

Copies of the bill can be purchased from Bennetts Government Bookshops. The bill can also be viewed online at http://www.legislation.govt.nz/bill/government/2009.
