Review of the Emissions Trading Scheme

Hon Peter Dunne, Chairperson of the Emissions Trading Scheme Review Committee, advises that the committee has completed hearing submissions on the review of the Emissions Trading Scheme.

Out of a total of 278 submissions received on this review, we heard 102 oral submissions at eight meetings over a period of nearly two months. The submissions were heard in a warm and cooperative atmosphere. We thank submitters for their time in preparing and presenting their submissions.

We will now move into a period of consideration, during which we will carefully examine both evidence provided by submitters and advice from our various advisers. We will then develop our written report and any recommendations to the Government that we may wish to make. We are aware of the significant interest in this review, and aim to report this matter to the House as soon as possible.
