Maori Party congratulates Clark

Maori Party congratulates Clark
Hon Dr Pita Sharples and Hon Tariana Turia
March 27th 2009

The co-leaders of the Maori Party say they’re not surprised that former Prime Minister Helen Clark has landed a top United Nations job, and they congratulate and wish her all the best in her new role.

Tariana Turia says “I believe Helen will be remembered as one of this country’s greatest Prime Ministers. She has an enormous capacity for work and commitment to all she undertakes. She is a strong leader and has integrity, and I know the developing countries will be strengthened by her leadership.”

Dr Pita Sharples says “I’m certain Helen will go on to perform well as the new Head of the United Nations Development Programme. And I know New Zealanders will have an enormous sense of pride that one of us has been chosen for this very important role on the world stage and will join the Maori Party in wishing her all the best.”
