‘Please explain’ sought on minor with baby
National Party Associate Welfare (CYF) spokeswoman Anne Tolley wants an explanation from the police about the decision not to lay charges against a 21-year-old man who fathered a child with a 13-year-old girl.
“We don’t know all the details, but on the face of it this doesn’t look good. The public won’t tolerate turning the other way when it comes to sex between adults and 11-year-olds.”
Mrs Tolley says the public should get some explanation about the decision not to charge the man, when CYF and the police have both been involved.
“Given this girl’s parents appear to have failed in their responsibility to protect her, the police were her last resort. What happened?”
