National Shows True Colours Regarding Seniors

New Zealand First Social Services spokesperson Barbara Stewart is appalled at the utter contempt being shown by the National Party towards New Zealand’s senior citizens. Mrs Stewart’s comments come in the wake of yet another attempt by National to denigrate the SuperGold Card which is one of the best things to happen for our seniors in decades.

“The National Party’s contempt for the elderly is perfectly demonstrated by their actions in continually mocking an initiative which has improved the lives of our seniors and will continue to do so,” said Mrs Stewart.

“National’s Welfare Spokesperson should hang her head in shame, not only for her attacks on the SuperGold Card, but for her party’s abysmal record when it comes to senior citizens. Unfortunately for National people haven’t forgotten what happened in the 1990’s.

“The truth of the matter is that the SuperGold Card has more than 480 Business Partners representing more than 3,000 outlets and both of those numbers are continuing to increase by the week.

“National need to tell our seniors whether they intend to retain the SuperGold Card if elected because, if their actions so far are any guide, they will return to form and add to their long dark history of neglect of our senior citizens,” said Mrs Stewart.
