Questions to Ministers
1. ANN HARTLEY to the Minister of Health: What initiatives does the Government have under way in the food industry to improve nutrition and reduce obesity?
2. Hon Dr NICK SMITH to the Minister responsible for Climate Change Issues: Is he proud of the Government’s record on greenhouse gas emissions since 1999?
3. METIRIA TUREI to the Minister of Fisheries: Has he seen any reports or plans that propose restrictions on commercial and recreational set net fishing; if so, what reasons are given for the restrictions?
4. GERRY BROWNLEE to the Minister of Justice: Does he stand by all the statements he made in his recent letter to community groups regarding the Electoral Finance Bill?
5. Hon BRIAN DONNELLY to the Minister of Local Government: Is he satisfied with the quality of evidence gathering, analysis of the issues, and conclusions drawn by the inquiry led by David Shand into local government rates, and does he believe the report adequately meets the terms of reference for the inquiry?

* Translation: Does he agree with Maori Television Chief Executive, Jim Mather, who has described the State broadcaster’s newly developed Maori strategy as a threat to Maori Television’s future and to its funding base; if so, how will he keep the commitment he gave on 26 July 2007, that “There will be no decrease in the amount of Maori language programming” on Maori Television.
