UF backs anti-family
violence campaign
UnitedFuture leader Peter Dunne is staunchly behind the anti-family violence campaign launched today.
The campaign is an initiative of the Families Commission, established under the first confidence and supply agreement between Labour and UnitedFuture.
"Short-sighted nitpickers at the time," said Mr Dunne, "decried the Commission as just an expensive sop to UnitedFuture.
"Today's launch of the campaign shows what can be achieved by careful planning, long-term thinking and solid research – exactly what UnitedFuture wanted when we argued for a greater focus from Government on the New Zealand family.
"Domestic violence is a deep-seated problem in New Zealand and there are no magic, one-off solutions.
"I applaud the Families Commission for the work it is doing and will continue to do to to make sure there are long-term, enduring changes in New Zealand society that will see our families made stronger, our children safer and our communities better places," said Mr Dunne.
