Turner dismayed by support for unregulated BZP
United Future deputy leader Judy Turner is dismayed that a trained health professional would proactively support the current regulatory status of substances that at least should be regulated to the same standard as over-the-counter prescription medicines.
She was responding to a release from Libertarianz Party member Dr Robin Goode supporting the use of party pills, such as BZP.
Mrs Turner said, "There is clear evidence that consumers currently can not even be sure that the dosages stated on packaging are accurate to the product contained within.
"Dr Goode, while admitting he is trying to protect his drug of choice, considers that BZP is safer than other substances, and yet fails to comment on the fact that many young people include BZP in a cocktail of alcohol and other substances.
"The growing evidence is that it is these combinations that contribute to the steady stream of clients in the A & E departments around the country."
