Accountability shouldn't be delayed
The Auditor General's decision to investigate Auckland district health boards should not delay 'accountability time' over the lab testing debacle, says National Party Health spokesman Tony Ryall.
"The Labour Government seems to be pulling out every stop to protect its appointees involved in the lab testing fiasco.
"This is the second audit of Auckland DHB conflicts - the first was in 2003 by Gough Brown Giffney.
"Obviously changes are needed in the way conflicts are handled. The High Court has said so.
"But the Labour Government should not use the Auditor General as an excuse to further deny accountability for the lab testing fiasco."
