Dunne hails infrastructure bonds
United Future leader and Ohariu-Belmont MP Peter Dunne today expressed his delight that the Government will shortly be launching a new bond tender which includes $50 million for new transport infrastructure, including the Transmission Gully project.
"My party for years has been pushing for new Government funding to update New Zealand's vital roading needs and this new tender, which is just the first in what will be a series, means the costs of these projects will fall where they ought to, namely on both current and future users of New Zealand's roads.
"I am certain that this bond tender will be a success as I – and I'm sure Finance Minister Dr Cullen also – have been approached by international investors eager to put their money into the development of New Zealand and Transmission Gully in particular.
"Even the Wellington City Council, which has long been out of step with the voters of Wellington by opposing the Transmission Gully project, has now fallen into line and accepted that it will not oppose the regional desire to get on with this solution to Wellington's roading access needs," said Mr Dunne.
