National yet to see validating legislation

National Party Leader Don Brash says National has yet to see legislation that validates the unlawful spending of taxpayers' money by Labour and other parties during the election campaign.

"National has been told that the legislation won't be available to us to consider until after Helen Clark has signed it off sometime tomorrow morning.

"Since we have nothing to consider, at this stage we will be reserving our position.

"The fact that the Government is reportedly invoking the legislation as a confidence and supply bill suggests it is using muscle rather than reason to get this through the House.

"But I repeat that we will not support anything that lets political parties off the hook from paying back what they unlawfully took from the public purse."
